1. How much should I expect the site to cost?

Each project design is unique and is quoted accordingly.  Our process is to identify your needs, then provide a written quote to you so you know the project's costs before starting.  For a free estimate click here.

We understand that cost is an important question in the minds of most businesses and regret that it's not possible to quote standard prices here. To do so would be the equivalent of a home builder quoting a price for a home before he had any knowledge about the size of the home or materials his customer wanted to use. The more information we can have about what type of web site you want, the easier it is for us to quote a price.

There are two main cost components to consider:  a one time design cost to create the site and then an on-going fee to have the site hosted on a server. All new website designs require a 30% deposit prior to scheduling work.

2. What kind of information should I think about including on my Web site?

a. Company logo.
b. Company information (information about your company, history, mission, products and services you offer, hours of operation, etc.)
c. Contact information (address, phone number, fax number, e-mail addresses, titles, etc.)
d. Product information, specifications, or drawings.
e. Photographs of your company, employees, products, etc.
f.  Newsletter, press releases, published articles about your company.
g. Specials or promotions that you may be offering.
h. Customer feedback form or survey.
i.  Customer testimonials.
j.  Any information that would be helpful to your customers (expert advice, recommendations on product selection, etc.)

3. What format should I use if I am sending information?

a. We encourage electronic delivery of text and graphics files. We will work with you to determine which format is best for your emailed files. We can also reformat most graphics files to suitable web formats.
b. We encourage you to use high quality prints or digital images since your Web site can be only as good as the material used to create it.  Copies or cutouts of magazines or brochures often don't reproduce well, so we discourage use of these images.
c. If you need help creating digital images (digital photography) or you want custom designed artwork and graphics, DataTech Designs can assist you.
d. We accept IBM compatible formatted disks and CD-ROM media.  We do not accept Macintosh formatted disks.

4. How long will it take?

Normally the process will take 2-3 weeks, once all materials are received.  The time required will also depend on the complexity of the design work and timeliness of your feedback.

When we receive your initial approval of the project scope and cost estimate, we will schedule a tentative starting date.  Prior to that date, we must receive all text and image files or photos, as well as an initial 30% deposit.

Once the site is designed and we have your approval to post the site to the Internet, we will upload the files to the server within 48 hrs. in most cases.

5. Do you provide E-commerce sites?

Yes. We can provide design, maintenance, and hosting for e-commerce sites. This is described in more detail in our e-commerce section.

6. How can I promote my site once it's finished?

There are many avenues for promotion of your site, from simple print media to advanced search engine optimization.  Each company's goals and unique business identity should be considered. View the Marketing section of our web site for more information on marketing your web site.

For sites we design:

We provide some initial site promotion to get you started. Promotion of your site will include getting your site registered with major Web search engine sites and Web directories (used by approximately 95% of Internet users). Correct titles, meta-tags, and keyword coding are also included for better search engine ranking. These submission services are provided FREE, though some of the search engines and directories charge a fee for listing your site.

Packages are also available for periodic scheduled search engine submission and optimization, including international search engine submissions.

For other sites:

We can conduct an analysis of your existing site and make recommendations for changes. Please see our Marketing section for more information.

7. How long will it take for my site to appear on the Search Engines, Directories, and Lists?

Some search engines will list your Web Site in as little as two or three days, others will take several weeks or months. It has been our experience that most Search Engines will begin listing a newly submitted Web Site in two to three weeks. Unfortunately we have no control over this part of the process.  However, if after 4 weeks, your site has not been listed, we will re-submit your site to those search engines free of charge.

8. What if I already have a website but it doesn't seem to be effective? Can you help?

Yes! There are a number of things we can do.

First, we would recommend a site analysis to review your existing site and provide you with our recommendations. A site may underperform for several reasons - poor navigation, unappealing design, broken links, or lack of promotion to name a few.

Second, we can work with you to implement our recommendations. Or in some cases, a business may decide to redo the design of their site to give it a fresh, new image. DataTech Designs can provide these web site make-overs.
